Painted Edge Business Cards: Premium Cards with Bold Color Edges

Painted edge business cards aren't subtle — they're built to make an impression the moment someone holds one. At 32pt thickness, these cards are twice as thick as standard business cards, with a vibrant colored edge that turns a simple card exchange into a moment customers and contacts remember. Designed for the people who are tired of being forgotten in a stack of generic cards.

Made from archival-quality cardstock with a natural, uncoated surface, painted edge cards combine substantial weight with refined elegance. The double-thickness construction creates a satisfying weight in hand, while the painted edge color acts as a deliberate design element — a brand signature visible from any angle. All cards are printed in the United States.

Painted Edge Business Card Features

  • 32pt thickness: Double the standard card weight, thicker than a credit card.
  • Uncoated, archival-quality cardstock: Refined natural finish with substantial heft.
  • Wide variety of edge colors: Match your brand or create deliberate contrast against your card design.
  • Tactile premium feel: The card weight itself signals quality before anyone reads a single word.
  • Full-color, full-bleed printing: Edge-to-edge CMYK on both sides of the card.
  • Pre-production artwork review: A real human inspects every file before printing.
  • Clear storage case included: Keeps cards protected and ready to hand out.
  • Free blind shipping: Plain packaging with no Printkeg branding.

Why Choose Painted Edge Cards Over Standard Business Cards

Painted edge cards exist for one reason: to be remembered. Standard business cards get tossed in drawers, lost in stacks, and forgotten within days of being received. A painted edge card is physically different — heavier, thicker, with a deliberate color visible from any angle. People keep them. People talk about them. People show them to colleagues.

The investment is real. Painted edge cards cost more than standard cards. The production process — laminating two 16pt sheets together to create the 32pt thickness, then carefully painting and curing the edges — takes longer than a typical print run. But for businesses where being remembered matters more than saving a few dollars per card, the math works out fast.

Best Uses for Painted Edge Business Cards

  • Designers & Creative Agencies — Your card is your portfolio. Painted edge cards prove design care without saying a word.
  • Luxury Real Estate — When clients are evaluating multi-million-dollar properties, the agent's card needs to match the bracket.
  • Wedding Planners & Photographers — High-end wedding clients notice every detail. Your card is one of them.
  • Architects & Interior Designers — Tactile materials matter to professionals who work with materials all day.
  • Boutique Brands & Founders — When you can't afford to be forgotten on the first impression.
  • Speaking Engagements & Conferences — Cards that survive the post-conference business card pile.
  • Premium Service Providers — Lawyers, financial advisors, consultants whose service tier justifies the card's weight.

Choosing Your Edge Color

The edge color is the most distinctive design choice on a painted edge card. Two general approaches:

  • Brand-match the edge to your card design — A black card with a deep red edge feels intentional and cohesive. A white card with a navy edge reads as classic and refined.
  • Use the edge as deliberate contrast — A minimalist white card with a hot pink edge is unforgettable. A dark card with a metallic gold edge reads as luxury without being subtle.

Quick tip: The edge color is visible from every angle of the card stack. Choose a color you genuinely love seeing — you'll see it every time someone holds your card.

Painted Edge Business Card FAQ

How thick is 32pt cardstock?

32pt cardstock is approximately 0.032 inches thick — twice the thickness of a standard 16pt business card and noticeably thicker than a credit card. The thickness is created by laminating two 16pt sheets together with the painted edge color visible at the seam.

Can I choose any edge color?

We offer a wide variety of standard edge colors that pair well with most card designs. For specific Pantone colors or custom edge color requests, contact us at contact@printkeg.com before ordering — some custom colors may have minimum quantities or additional cost.

Why do painted edge cards take longer to produce?

Painted edge cards involve multiple production steps beyond standard printing: offset printing on 16pt sheets, lamination of two sheets to create 32pt thickness, edge color application, and full curing time before final cutting. Expect production to take longer than standard business cards — please plan ahead for time-sensitive needs.

Will the edge color match my card design exactly?

Edge colors are applied as physical paint and may have slight tonal variation compared to printed CMYK colors on your card. For projects where edge color must match brand colors precisely, request a sample or proof before placing your full order.
