Custom 4.75x4.75 CD Inserts & Album Covers

Our 4.75x4.75 CD inserts are sized specifically for standard CD jewel cases — the perfect format for album front covers, back inserts, and booklet pages. Whether you're an indie musician self-releasing your first album, a producer creating promotional copies, or a record label preparing a limited-run pressing, these inserts deliver professional-quality album packaging at small-batch friendly prices.

Choose from four substrate options ranging from lightweight magazine-style paper to heavyweight archival cardstock. The size also works well for creative promotional projects beyond CD packaging — square handouts, mini-flyers, and promotional cards for events. All printing is done in the United States.

Need higher quantities? Our bulk quantity options offer significant volume discounts for larger album runs.

CD Insert Features

  • Sized for standard CD jewel cases: 4.75" x 4.75" fits the front and back panels of standard plastic CD jewel cases.
  • Four substrate options: Two paper stocks (80# gloss, 70# matte) and two cardstock options (80# gloss cover, 70# matte cover).
  • Low minimum orders: Order as few as 25 inserts — perfect for limited-run pressings and demo copies.
  • Single or double-sided printing: Print on one side for simple inserts, or both sides for full album art with track listings, credits, and lyrics.
  • Full color, full bleed: Edge-to-edge CMYK printing matches your album art exactly to the edge of the insert.
  • Pre-production artwork review: A real human inspects every file before printing.
  • Automatic minor adjustments: Our designers automatically fix small artwork issues (low-resolution warnings, color profile conversions) when possible.
  • Free blind shipping: Plain packaging with no Printkeg branding for resale-ready delivery.
  • Bulk pricing available: Volume discounts apply automatically for larger orders.

Substrate Options

  • Gloss Paper (80# Text) — Lightweight magazine-style paper with a shiny finish. Best for budget-friendly insert printing, demo copies, and high-volume distribution where cost matters more than premium feel.
  • Matte Paper (70# Text) — Lightweight uncoated paper with a clean, glare-free surface. Best for inserts with text-heavy content (lyrics, liner notes, credits) where readability matters.
  • Gloss Card (80# Cover) — Heavyweight cardstock with a smooth glossy finish for vibrant color reproduction. Best for album front covers and main artwork where the substrate weight signals professional quality.
  • Matte Card (70# Cover) — Heavyweight cardstock with a refined matte surface. An elegant alternative to gloss for premium album packaging, especially fitting for acoustic, classical, and indie releases.

Quick tip: For most album projects, we recommend cardstock options for the front cover (where presentation matters) and paper options for multi-page interior booklets (where weight savings and cost efficiency are priorities).

Best Uses for 4.75x4.75 CD Inserts

  • Album Front Covers — Main album artwork in standard CD jewel case format. The most common use for this product.
  • Album Back Covers & Tray Inserts — Track listings, credits, copyright information, and back-cover artwork.
  • Multi-Page Album Booklets — Lyric booklets, liner notes, photography spreads, and extended album artwork. Order multiple copies in different designs to assemble multi-page booklets.
  • Demo Copies & Promotional CDs — Industry promotional CDs for radio stations, music journalists, and label submissions.
  • EP & Single Releases — Smaller-batch releases where short-run printing is essential.
  • Live Album Packaging — Recorded performance albums sold at shows, conventions, and merchandise tables.
  • Compilation Albums — Various-artists compilations, label samplers, soundtrack collections.
  • Audiobook Inserts — Audiobook CD packaging requires the same insert format as music.
  • Square Promotional Handouts — Beyond CD use, the square format works for unique promotional pieces, business cards for music industry professionals, and creative event handouts.

Designing CD Inserts That Work

A few things specific to album packaging that customers frequently get wrong:

  • Front and back covers are visible inside the case — The front cover faces outward, but customers also see the back through the clear plastic tray. Both sides need design attention.
  • Critical text needs safe zones — Track listings, credits, and barcodes near the edges can get clipped during trimming. Keep text at least 0.125" inside the trim line.
  • CMYK conversion can shift album colors — Vibrant blues, reds, and oranges (common in album art) sometimes shift on conversion from RGB. If color accuracy matters for your album art, request a digital proof before final production.
  • Black backgrounds need rich black — A standard 100% black often appears as a flat dark gray on print. Use a "rich black" formula (typically C: 60, M: 40, Y: 40, K: 100) for deep, saturated blacks on album covers.
  • Photography needs high resolution — Album artwork is often photographed and processed for digital streaming, where lower resolutions work fine. For print, ensure your source files are at least 300 DPI at 4.75" x 4.75" (1425 x 1425 pixels minimum).

  • Digital Proof ($5)

A Printkeg artist will prepare your artwork for printing and send you a visual in PDF format via email. This usually takes place within a few business hours. The image we will email you showcases trim location and CMYK colors in a limited fashion.

  • 70# or 80# Paper

Generally, people prefer thinner text papers as an affordable way to market events, light posters, leaflets, letterhead, advertisements, and any other situation where a budget is a primary concern.

  • 70# or 80# Card

Sometimes, handouts need to be thicker but not quite as durable as postcards. To grasp the thickness, think about the cover of a magazine. Sometimes, this stock can also provide welcome savings compared to other cover media.

  • Need Archival Media?

We offer heavier archival stocks for many sizes in our fine arts printing area. All media choices are intended for artists seeking long-lasting prints for retail environments. Thicker options also available in our postcards area.

Multiple Designs (Split Quantity)

Split your order across multiple designs and still get full bulk pricing. Print up to 5 files in one order — no need to run separate jobs for each piece. Perfect for businesses promoting multiple services, events with different sessions, or campaigns that test variations side by side.

Example: Order 500 flyers + 5 designs = 100 of each
