General Questions
What type of paper does Printkeg offer?
We offer a curated selection of papers chosen specifically for each product category. Our fine art printing uses archival-grade stocks; posters, cards, and marketing materials each use paper weights and finishes suited to their end use. If you'd like to see and feel our papers before ordering, you can request free samples.
How do you pack the prints?
Orders at 13×19 and smaller ship flat using bubble wrap, chipboard backing, and durable boxes. Larger prints ship rolled in sturdy tubes with end caps to protect the edges during transit.
Does Printkeg offer free samples?
Yes. We send free paper and product samples to prospective customers who want to evaluate our quality before ordering. Learn more about requesting samples, or order a curated sample pack directly from our shop.
How do I get an invoice?
Your order confirmation email includes a full invoice. If you need a copy of a previous order's invoice marked "paid," a Printkeg representative can email one to you on request.
Can I see a proof before placing my order?
Yes. You can add a digital proof to any order at checkout. One of our artists will review your file and email you a PDF visual proof, typically within one business day. Proofing is a great option for first-time orders, complex layouts, or projects where color accuracy is critical.
Will I receive an order confirmation?
Yes. You'll receive an order confirmation email immediately after checkout, plus production status updates and shipping notifications as your order moves through our shop.
How do I check order status or tracking?
Status updates are emailed to you automatically. You can also check the current status of any order on our order status page or through the Shop Pay app.
Can I cancel or modify my order after placing it?
If your order hasn't entered production yet, we can usually cancel or modify it. Once a job is on press or already printed, changes become difficult or impossible. Contact us as quickly as possible if you need to make a change.
Do you keep my file on record for reorders?
Yes. We retain your print files, so reordering the same artwork is as simple as placing a new order — no need to re-upload unless you want to revise the design.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.

Pricing & Turnaround
How much does printing cost?
Pricing depends on product type, size, paper, finish, and quantity. Every product page on our site shows live per-unit pricing that updates as you adjust your order. For a broader look at what drives print costs up or down, see our guide on poster printing cost.
How long does printing take?
Standard production turnaround is typically 1–3 business days for most products, plus shipping time. Larger runs, specialty finishes, and proofing add time. Each product page lists its specific production estimate at checkout.
Do you offer rush printing?
Yes, rush options are available on many of our products. Rush service moves your job to the front of the production queue for an additional fee. Contact us if you need a tight deadline and we'll confirm what's possible for your specific project.
Is there a minimum order?
No. Printkeg has no order minimums — you can order a single print, a single poster, or a single pack of cards. Per-piece pricing drops significantly at higher quantities, but there's no barrier to ordering small.
Do you offer bulk or quantity discounts?
Yes. Our pricing is built around quantity tiers, so per-piece costs drop as your order size grows. For very large runs (500+ pieces) or ongoing wholesale arrangements, contact our team for custom pricing.
Files & Art Preparation
Do you offer print templates?
Yes! We offer free print templates in PDF format for every size we print, with bleed, trim, and safe zone guides built in. Open them in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or use them as a sizing reference in Canva. No email required—just download and design.
What file formats do you accept?
We accept PDF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, and PSD files. PDF is preferred for most print products because it preserves fonts, color, and layout reliably. High-resolution JPG and TIFF files work well for photography and art reproduction.
What resolution should my file be?
Print resolution, measured in dots per inch (DPI), determines how sharp and detailed your print will look. We recommend 300 DPI at the final print size for photographic and high-detail prints. A low-resolution file upscaled to a large print size won't print cleanly — the higher your source resolution, the more reliably it reproduces at large formats.
What does full bleed mean?
Full bleed refers to a print where the design extends all the way to the edge of the paper with no white borders. To achieve this, the artwork is printed slightly larger than the final trim size and then cut down. Add 0.125" of bleed on all sides of your file if you want an edge-to-edge design.
Do I need to include crop or trim marks?
No. Please do not include crop or trim marks in your art files — our production workflow adds them automatically where needed.
Do you print in RGB or CMYK?
CMYK. All our presses print in CMYK, so we recommend converting your files to CMYK before uploading. This lets you preview how colors will shift from screen to print and make adjustments before going to press.
Can you print from a Canva, Photoshop, or Procreate file?
Yes, as long as the exported file meets our print specs. From any of these tools, export to a high-resolution PDF (preferred) or PNG at 300 DPI at final print size, in CMYK color mode where possible, with 0.125" of bleed for edge-to-edge designs.
Can you print custom sizes?
Yes, we offer custom sizing on many of our products. If your desired size isn't listed on the product page, contact us with your specs, and we'll confirm whether we can produce it and what the pricing looks like.
When do I upload my art file?
An upload feature is built into every product page and appears during checkout. If you overlook it, you can email your art to us after the order is placed. We'll match it to your order before production begins.
My file is too large to upload or email. What are my options?
Use a file-transfer service like WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive. Send the download link to art@printkeg.com with your order number in the subject line.
How do I contact the Art Department?
Email our art team any time at art@printkeg.com. Please whitelist the @printkeg.com domain in your email client so our replies and notifications don't land in spam.
Colors & Color Accuracy
What is CMYK color mode?
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (the "K" is Key, referring to the black plate). These are the four ink colors commercial printers use to reproduce the full color spectrum on paper.
- Cyan: a bluish-green
- Magenta: a purplish-red
- Yellow: yellow
- Black (K): adds depth, detail, and solid dark areas
Colors on a printed page are created by overlaying different percentages of these four inks. CMYK is the standard for print because it matches how commercial presses physically lay down ink. RGB (what your monitor uses) has a wider color range but can't be reproduced exactly in print, which is why we recommend converting to CMYK before uploading your files.
How can I guarantee color accuracy?
Absolute color matching isn't possible between a screen and a printed page, but a few steps get you very close: design in CMYK, calibrate your monitor if you do a lot of print work, use a soft-proof preview in Photoshop or a comparable tool, and order a proof before committing to a large run. For projects where color is critical, a paid hard-copy proof is the most reliable check.
What if I want to create a solid black area?
Use 100% black ink (K) with 0% Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Mixing all four at high percentages produces a "rich black" that can muddy up and look slightly off. For text, line art, and crisp solid blacks, pure K is almost always the right choice.
Does lighting impact color quality?
Yes — significantly. The same print can look different under daylight, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, or LED lighting because each light source emits a different color spectrum. A few key factors:
- Color temperature: Daylight is cool (5000–6500K); incandescent light is warm (2700–3000K). Warmer light pulls colors yellow; cooler light pulls them blue.
- Color Rendering Index (CRI): Light sources with higher CRI (closer to 100) render colors more accurately. Most cheap LEDs have lower CRI than natural light.
- Metamerism: Two colors that match under one light can look different under another. This is especially common with prints viewed under fluorescents vs. daylight.
For critical color review, always evaluate prints under consistent daylight-balanced lighting.
Shipping
Do you charge for shipping?
Yes. We offer low flat rates across multiple carriers and transit methods. Learn more about our carriers, rates, and transit times on our understanding flat rates and shipping page.
What shipping options do you offer?
We ship via UPS and USPS with multiple transit speed options at checkout, from economy to expedited. Specific options vary by product size and shipping destination.
Where does Printkeg ship?
We ship anywhere in the United States, including U.S. islands and territories, plus Canada, Mexico, the UK, Germany, and Australia.
Should I use my business name or my personal name?
Include both when possible. If you're shipping to a business address, listing both a contact person and a company name makes it much easier for the carrier to deliver successfully.
Can I ship to a P.O. Box?
Yes. If you select a P.O. Box, choose USPS as your carrier — UPS does not deliver to P.O. Boxes. For extremely heavy packages, we may ask you to provide a physical address and switch to UPS.
How do I find my tracking number?
Tracking information is emailed to you as soon as your package ships. You can also find tracking on the Shop Pay app or our order status page.
Can I use my own shipping account?
Not at this time.
Do you offer Saturday delivery?
We don't actively offer it. UPS and USPS sometimes deliver on Saturdays, but Saturday delivery isn't guaranteed and we don't count Saturday as a business day for production or transit calculations.
Can I ship my order to multiple locations?
Not within a single order. For now, we recommend placing separate orders for each shipping destination.
Can I upgrade my shipping method after placing my order?
If your order hasn't shipped yet, we can usually accommodate a shipping upgrade. Once the package is in transit, shipping method changes aren't possible.
Will you ship my order if it finishes early?
Yes. If your order is ready before the estimated date, we'll ship it as soon as it's finished.
What is blind shipping and why do you offer it?
Blind shipping means packages arrive without Printkeg branding on the outside — no return labels, invoices, or marketing inserts that identify us as the printer. We blind-ship every order by default because many of our customers are artists, photographers, and small businesses who resell our prints under their own brand.
Why do shipping fees seem high?
Shipping cost is almost entirely determined by the carriers based on weight, dimensions, distance, and speed. We work to keep rates as low as possible by offering multiple carriers, multiple transit options, and flat rates wherever we can — but large-format and heavy orders (posters, banners, tubes) carry higher carrier fees by nature.
