Comic Books
Printing Info & Specs

One of our favorite products to print are comic books. This special love stems from our co-founder’s background of collecting comics and interest in sequential art as a kid. Although Chris doesn’t live a life of illustration, he still feels an inner peace when printing works of our customers’ imaginations. Implementing numerous measures of quality control for these types of projects, we understand creators are not only selling artwork, but are also representing themselves.

Comic books are printed on glossy (coated) papers. If you prefer the matte (uncoated) paper, please visit our matte full sized booklet page to learn more.

We advise that you also order a physical poof.

Details

6.75 X 10.25 or 7x10.25 comic books are printed "full bleed" and only white margins actually present in artwork are preserved. Booklets are half-folded sheets stitched together with professional grade staples. Comic books can also be custom cut at various sizes in .25" intervals of artist's choice. Simply let us know the custom size in the "Messages / Deadlines" section above.

Turnaround

We ask customers with strict deadlines to please speak with a Printkeg customer service representative, so we can work closely together to stay on schedule. Please provide a deadline date in the messages field on the above form as well if possible.

Most projects require five business days.

Proofs

To ensure the best quality printing, we always recommend new customers order a physical proof for all comic book printing. Since we cannot always guarantee 100% accuracy for orders requesting "no proof," being able to hold your book in your hand will eliminate any uncertainty. Ordering a physical proof will add extra time to your turnaround, as turnaround time begins at the time of approval of proof.

A digital proof might be a better option for customers who are pressed for time, but this will often times add one extra day to the turnaround timePlease let us know in the "Messages / Deadlines" area above if a digital proof is needed. Also, please note of any hard deadlines if applicable.

The file will is always evaluated by our staff designers, so if you do not wish to see a physical or digital proof, the order will move onto our production team. We always check the file for quality, resolution and bleed to ensure a quality print.

Sending Art

Please upload comic book art on this page unless you are sending multiple files or files that are very large. We prefer one multi-paged PDF file, but it is not a requirement. Separated files or larger files should be emailed to art@printkeg.com or delivered via third party storage app such as Dropbox.

Art Setup

Please turn art in as a multipage document with .25” bleed area. The key to well printed comic books is providing ample bleed or trim area (keep important text and images far away from the edge).

Some clients also submit multipage documents in spread format. This is an acceptable method that is sometimes preferable depending on the artwork; however it is not necessary or required.

We prefer comic books to be turned in as multipage files with a .25” bleed area. Some customers find it easier to submit pages individually and numbered. Please name the cover page 1.jpg or 1.pdf.
