Set your canvas to 300 DPI at your exact print dimensions before designing. Files built at screen resolution (72–96 DPI) will print blurry or pixelated at these sizes. This is the single most common file mistake — and it cannot be fixed by upscaling after the fact.

Bleed: 0.125" on All Sides

If your design runs color or artwork to the edge of the print (full bleed), extend that background 0.125" beyond the trim line on all sides. Without bleed, trimming can leave a thin white sliver along one or more edges — especially noticeable on dark-background designs.

Safe Zone: 0.25" from Trim

Keep all important content — text, logos, faces, prices — at least 0.25" inside the trim edge. Elements too close to the edge risk being clipped during cutting. For business cards especially, keep text well inside the safe zone — the smaller the format, the more noticeable edge clipping becomes.

File Format

High-quality JPG (maximum quality export) works for most products in this collection. PDF is preferred for business cards and any design with text-heavy layouts. Avoid web-compressed JPGs or files exported for screen use — these will not print with full sharpness at the sizes in this collection.
