Every Sign & Display Product We Offer

Eight distinct products, each built for a specific environment and use case. Here's a full breakdown of what's in this collection and when to use each one.

Foam Board Signs

Indoor  |  Lightweight  |  Short-to-Medium Term

Foam board is the workhorse of convention and retail display signage. A paper-coated foam core that's light enough to hang from a grid with binder clips, rigid enough to stand upright on a table or easel, and affordable enough to produce fresh for each event. Easy to cut to custom shapes with a blade and straightedge if your design calls for it.

Best for: Artist Alley pricing signs, gallery labels, retail displays, convention tabletop signs, presentation boards, and any indoor signage you'll update or replace between events.

Gator Board Signs

Indoor  |  Heavy-Duty  |  Repeated Use

Gator board is a denser, harder-surface rigid board that resists denting, moisture, and repeated handling in ways that foam board simply can't. The premium choice for permanent or semi-permanent signs you'll use at every event across multiple years. The surface has a quality feel that communicates polish and professionalism.

Best for: Permanent artist name signs, reusable retail display panels, trade show booth headers, gallery exhibition labels, and any sign that needs to survive years of transport and repeated setup without showing wear.

Yard Signs

Outdoor  |  Weather-Resistant  |  Ground-Mounted

Corrugated plastic signs are designed to be read quickly from a moving vehicle or passing pedestrian. Lightweight, weather-resistant, and typically double-sided. Yard signs mount on wire H-stakes that push into the ground — no tools required, setup in under 60 seconds. Built to hold up through rain, wind, and sun without fading or warping.

Best for: Real estate listings, political campaigns, event directional signage, construction site identification, community announcements, grand opening signage, and any outdoor application where roadside visibility is the goal.

Sidewalk Signs

Outdoor / Indoor  |  Foot Traffic  |  Reusable Frames

A-frame and chalkboard-style signs are engineered for placement directly on the sidewalk or near an entrance. These signs convert foot traffic into customers — they're designed for close-range reading by pedestrians who are about to pass your door. The most effective sign for communicating daily specials, promotions, or directional guidance to someone who's already physically close to your business.

Best for: Restaurants and cafes (daily specials, happy hour), retail stores (sales, new arrivals), pop-up events (directions, wait times), salons and service businesses, and any business where converting sidewalk foot traffic is the goal.

Vinyl Backdrops

Indoor  |  Large Format  |  Event & Booth Displays

Large-format printed vinyl displays that transform the back wall of a booth or event space into a branded environment. A vinyl backdrop is the single most impactful display element a trade show or convention booth can have — it establishes your visual identity at a scale that's visible from across the room and creates a professional, polished backdrop for photography and video.

Best for: Trade show booths, convention Artist Alley setups with a pipe-and-drape backdrop, step-and-repeat photo walls, product launch events, brand activations, and any environment where you want the back of your space to do serious visual work.

Table Covers

Indoor  |  Booth & Display Tables  |  Branded

A custom-printed table cover transforms a plain folding table into a branded display surface. Convention and trade show tables with white or black generic covers look like every other table in the room. A custom printed table cover makes your space immediately distinctive and reinforces your brand identity at close range — the level where buyers are already standing and shopping.

Best for: Trade show booths, Artist Alley and convention tables, corporate event displays, fundraiser tables, product demo setups, and any booth where the table surface is a visible part of the display.

Backlit Display Prints

Indoor  |  Illuminated Light Boxes  |  Premium Retail

Specialty-printed film designed to be illuminated from behind in a light box or display case. Backlit prints produce colors that glow — saturated, luminous, and visually arresting in a way that front-lit prints simply can't replicate. The format of high-end retail, airport advertising, and premium exhibition displays. When you want maximum color impact in an indoor environment, backlit is the highest level available.

Best for: Retail light box displays, exhibition signage, menu boards in restaurants with existing light box frames, point-of-purchase displays, and premium booth setups where visual impact is the primary objective.

Car Magnets

Outdoor  |  Vehicle Signage  |  Removable

Magnetic vehicle signs that turn your car, truck, or van into a mobile advertisement — then remove cleanly when you don't need them. Car magnets go where you go, reaching neighborhoods, parking lots, and commuter routes that static signs never will. Easy to apply and remove without tools, without adhesive residue, and without permanent commitment.

Best for: Service businesses (plumbers, electricians, landscapers, cleaning services), real estate agents, food trucks and catering, delivery vehicles, and any business that moves through its target market and wants to make every mile do marketing work.

Retractable Banners

Indoor  |  Freestanding  |  60-Second Setup

The fastest-deploying freestanding display in the collection. The banner graphic is stored inside a base housing and pulls up on a support pole in under 60 seconds — no parts to lose, no assembly to wrestle with. Compact enough to check as airline baggage. The base is weighted to stay stable in high-traffic environments without additional anchoring. The most popular convention and trade show banner format for good reason.

Best for: Convention and Artist Alley booth displays, trade show signage, retail in-store promotions, event entrances, and any situation where fast setup, portability, and visual impact need to coexist.

Quick Comparisons: Pick the Right Sign Fast

The most common sign decisions — side by side, so you can choose with confidence.

Foam Board vs. Gator Board

Both are rigid indoor display boards — but they serve different timeframes and budgets. Here's how to choose.

Foam Board

  • Best for: short-term displays, indoor events, signs you'll update frequently
  • Feel: light, clean, easy to carry.
  • Durability: sturdy for single or temporary uses — corners and edges can dent with rough handling
  • Cost: budget-friendly — great for event-specific or disposable signage
  • Pick it when: you want value, fast production, and easy setup

Quick pick: Lightweight, budget-friendly, and perfect for signs you'll replace or update between events.

Gator Board

  • Best for: permanent displays, premium booth signage, repeated use across many events
  • Feel: heavier, stiffer, more "high-end" surface quality
  • Durability: dent-resistant, moisture-resistant, holds up through years of transport and setup
  • Cost: higher upfront — but lower cost-per-use over time for permanent signs
  • Pick it when: presentation matters most, and the sign needs to last

Quick pick: Tougher, premium surface, built for signs you'll reuse for years.

Yard Signs vs. Sidewalk Signs

Both go near your location — but they're built for different viewers and viewing distances. Here's the difference.

Yard Signs

  • Best for: outdoor visibility from the road and passing vehicles
  • Common uses: real estate listings, political campaigns, event directions, construction sites
  • Viewing: designed for fast reads at a distance — bold, simple, high-contrast
  • Placement: ground-mounted with wire H-stakes; stays outside in all weather
  • Pick it when: drivers and people moving at speed need to see it quickly

Quick pick: Road visibility, outdoor durability, fast-read messaging.

Sidewalk Signs

  • Best for: converting foot traffic right outside your entrance
  • Common uses: restaurant specials, retail promotions, pop-up events, salon offers
  • Viewing: close-range reading by pedestrians who have time to stop and read
  • Placement: A-frame on the sidewalk or just inside the door; brought in at closing
  • Pick it when: you want pedestrians who are already nearby to walk in

Quick pick: Foot traffic, daily offers, close-range conversion.

Vinyl Backdrop vs. Retractable Banner

Both create a large vertical display — but they serve different booth setups and installation contexts.

Vinyl Backdrop

  • Best for: filling the entire back wall of a booth or event space
  • Common uses: trade show back walls, step-and-repeat photo areas, brand activations
  • Setup: requires a pipe-and-drape system, tension frame, or wall mounting
  • Impact: maximum — transforms your booth into a branded environment
  • Pick it when: the back of your space needs to do serious visual work

Quick pick: Full wall coverage, maximum brand presence, photo-worthy backdrop.

Retractable Banner

  • Best for: freestanding display at the edge of a booth or in an aisle
  • Common uses: convention booth flanking, trade show aisle display, retail in-store
  • Setup: self-contained — unrolls from a base housing in under 60 seconds
  • Impact: high — extends your booth's visual reach into the aisle
  • Pick it when: you need a portable, fast-deploy vertical display that stands alone

Quick pick: Portable, instant setup, aisle visibility without a frame system.

Who Uses Our Signs & Displays

Our signage products serve a broad range of customers — from artists and makers to retailers, service businesses, and event organizers. Here's how different groups put them to use.

Artists & Convention Sellers

Foam board pricing signs, retractable banners, gator board name signs, and vinyl backdrops for Artist Alley and convention booth setups. The right signage combination makes a booth look professional, branded, and visually distinct from the dozens of tables on either side.

Retail Businesses

Sidewalk signs for daily foot traffic, backlit display prints for in-store light boxes, foam or gator board displays for product showcases, and table covers for pop-up retail events. Signs that work at the entrance, inside the store, and behind the register.

Trade Show Exhibitors

Vinyl backdrops, retractable banners, custom table covers, and foam board display panels create a complete, professional trade show presence. A cohesive set of display products — consistent branding across backdrop, banner, and table — is what separates a professional exhibitor from a first-time presence.

Real Estate Professionals

Yard signs for property listings and open houses, car magnets for branded vehicle presence in the community, and foam board signs for property presentations and buyer meetings. Fast turnaround matters in real estate — properties listed on short notice, and signage needs to follow immediately.

Event Organizers

Yard signs for event directions, vinyl backdrops for photo stations and branded entrances, retractable banners for sponsor recognition and wayfinding, and foam board signs for schedules and information boards. Events have non-negotiable deadlines — our fast production keeps you ready for show day.

Service Businesses

Car magnets for plumbers, electricians, landscapers, caterers, and any business where the vehicle is a moving billboard through the service area. Sidewalk signs for salon, spa, and restaurant businesses that depend on converting walk-by traffic. Signage that works while you're working.

File Setup for Signs & Displays

Signs are viewed differently than prints — from distances ranging from inches (backlit menus) to hundreds of feet (yard signs). Here's how to set up your file correctly for each type.

Resolution by Sign Type

Foam/Gator board and retail displays: 300 DPI at print dimensions — these are viewed at close range and require full resolution. Yard signs and large outdoor signage: 150 DPI is acceptable — these are viewed from a distance. Retractable banners and vinyl backdrops: 100–150 DPI at full size — large format viewed from feet away, not inches. Never upscale a low-resolution file.

Bleed: 0.125"–0.25"

For full-bleed signs (background color or artwork running to the edge), add 0.125" bleed for smaller rigid signs and 0.25" for large-format vinyl backdrops and banners. Without bleed, trimming or finishing can expose a thin white line along the edge — highly noticeable on colored or dark backgrounds.

Safe Zone: 0.25"–0.5" from Trim

Keep all critical content — headlines, contact info, logos, QR codes — inside the safe zone. For yard signs and large format, increase the safe zone to 0.5" to account for finishing variation at scale. Text too close to the edge on a sign gets clipped or crowds the border uncomfortably.

Design for Viewing Distance

Signs viewed from a distance need larger, bolder text and simpler compositions than signs viewed up close. A yard sign read from a moving car at 30 mph needs a maximum of three lines of text in a large, high-contrast font. A foam board table sign can carry more detail. Design for the distance — not the Photoshop canvas zoom.

Color Mode

Our presses are calibrated for CMYK workflows, and designing in CMYK gives you the most accurate match between what you see on screen and what comes off the press. For backlit display prints, pay particular attention to your color values — backlit viewing amplifies saturation, so colors that look bright on a standard monitor can appear more intense when illuminated.

File Format

PDF is preferred for all sign products — especially for designs with text, vector elements, or specific color requirements. High-quality JPG and TIFF are also accepted. For large- format products (backdrops, banners), PDF or TIFF preserves the highest quality at large dimensions. Avoid compressed web-export formats for any sign product.

Upload your file at checkout, and our team reviews every order before production. If we spot a resolution issue, missing bleed, or anything that would affect your finished sign, we'll contact you before anything gets printed.

Signs & Displays FAQ

What's the difference between foam board and gator board?

Foam board is lightweight, affordable, and ideal for signs you'll produce fresh for each event or update frequently. It's sturdy for single or limited use but can dent at corners and edges with rough handling. Gator board is a denser, harder material that resists denting, moisture, and repeated transport — the better choice for permanent or semi-permanent signs you'll use across many events over years. For single-event or disposable signage, foam board. For signs you want to last, gator board.

What's the best outdoor sign for my business?

It depends on your goal. Yard signs on wire H-stakes are ideal for roadside visibility — real estate listings, political campaigns, event directions, and any message that needs to be read from a moving vehicle. Sidewalk signs are better for converting foot traffic right at your entrance — restaurants, retail, and service businesses that want pedestrians to walk in. Car magnets work for service businesses whose vehicles travel through the community daily. For large outdoor events, retractable banners or vinyl backdrops work for covered outdoor environments.

What size retractable banner should I order?

The most common convention and trade show retractable banner size is 33"×80" (approximately 2.75 feet wide by 6.5 feet tall). This size is tall enough to be visible above a crowd, wide enough to display your artwork or branding clearly, and compact enough to fit in a standard retractable banner case. Check the specific product page for available size options. For convention and Artist Alley use, 33×80 is the safe default.

Can I use these signs outdoors?

Yard signs and car magnets are designed for outdoor use. Retractable banners can be used in covered outdoor environments but are not designed for rain or wind. Foam board, gator board, table covers, vinyl backdrops, and backlit prints are indoor products and should not be used in direct weather. Check individual product pages for specific environmental ratings before ordering for an outdoor application.

What resolution do I need for a banner or backdrop?

Large-format products like retractable banners and vinyl backdrops are viewed from several feet away, not inches. 100–150 DPI at full print dimensions is acceptable and standard for these products — attempting to supply 300 DPI at full banner size creates enormous file sizes unnecessarily. For foam board and gator board signs viewed at close range, 300 DPI is the appropriate standard. Never upscale a low-resolution file — this adds pixels through interpolation, not real detail.

How quickly can I get my signs printed and shipped?

Most sign and display products have a 1–3 business day production turnaround depending on the product and quantity. Rush options may be available at checkout for time-sensitive orders. If you have a specific event date, check the production time estimate on the individual product page before ordering — and allow adequate shipping time on top of production. For tight deadlines, contact us before ordering and we'll confirm what's achievable.

Do car magnets damage vehicle paint?

Car magnets from Printkeg are designed with smooth, paint-safe magnetic backing that won't scratch or damage vehicle surfaces when applied and removed correctly. To protect your paint, periodically remove the magnet, clean both the magnet and the vehicle surface, and reapply — don't leave car magnets on a vehicle through a car wash or in extreme heat for extended periods. Store them flat when not in use.

Will you review my file before printing my sign?

Yes. Every order includes a file review before production. We check resolution, bleed, safe zones, and formatting appropriate to the sign type — and we'll contact you before printing if anything needs adjustment. For large-format products especially, catching a resolution issue before production saves both time and material.
