Booklet Printing — Programs, Comics, Calendars & More

Need something printed that goes beyond a single sheet? Our booklet printing collection covers everything from compact half-size handouts to full-size publications — plus calendars, comic books, playbills, and coloring books. Whether you're a small business, indie creator, school, or event organizer, we make it easy to get professional, high-quality booklets printed and delivered fast.

What's Included in Our Booklet Printing Collection

This collection includes six distinct booklet-style products, each available with different sizes, page counts, paper stocks, and binding options. Here's a full breakdown of every format and when to use it.

Half-Size Booklets

Size: 5.5" × 8.5"  |  Saddle-Stitched

Half-size booklets are one of the most practical and cost-effective formats in print. Small enough to mail, easy to hold, and affordable to produce in both short and large runs. The 5.5×8.5 format fits neatly in a bag or pocket — which means buyers, attendees, and readers actually keep them.

Best for: Product catalogs, training manuals, event programs, informational guides, menus, artist portfolios, zines, and convention handouts.

Full-Size Booklets

Size: 8.5" × 11"  |  Saddle-Stitched

Full-size booklets give you the full page real estate to present content-heavy material with impact. When your project has detailed photography, charts, large body copy, or a high-end editorial layout, the 8.5×11 format lets your design breathe and your content read clearly.

Best for: Annual reports, course materials, lookbooks, press kits, corporate presentations, photography books, and any project where detail and visual presentation are the priority.

Custom Calendars

Wall Format  |  Saddle-Stitched

A custom calendar is twelve months of brand presence, art exposure, or family memories — all in one print. Unlike flyers or postcards that get discarded, calendars stay on the wall or desk all year. For artists and photographers, they're an excellent way to turn your work into a product that buyers use daily.

Best for: Promotional giveaways, artist and photography showcases, fundraiser items, real estate and business gifts, family photo calendars, and fan art collections.

Comic Books

Size: 6.75" × 10.25"  |  Saddle-Stitched

Standard comic book dimensions for indie creators who want their work to sit comfortably alongside everything on a comic shop shelf. We print with sharp line reproduction that handles both bold inked panels and subtle detail work with equal quality — whether you're printing a debut issue or a run of 500 copies of an established series.

Best for: Indie comics, manga-style publications, graphic novels, school creative projects, short-story anthologies, convention exclusives, and creative marketing campaigns.

Playbills

Saddle-Stitched  |  Event-Ready

A professionally printed playbill signals that you take your production seriously — and audiences notice. Our playbill printing is built for the fast-moving reality of live events: tight deadlines, last-minute cast changes, and the need for something that looks polished in the hand during a performance.

Best for: Theater productions, school plays, dance recitals, concerts, musicals, comedy shows, talent competitions, and any live event where the audience deserves more than a folded sheet of paper.

Coloring Books

Black & White Interior  |  Custom Cover

Custom coloring books are one of the most engaging physical products you can produce. They invite participation — people interact with them, share them, and keep them. For artists especially, a coloring book is a way to put your linework in buyers' hands in a format that's both affordable to produce and genuinely fun to receive.

Best for: Independent artists selling at conventions and online shops, restaurants and family-friendly businesses, schools and educational programs, therapists and wellness practitioners, event planners, and anyone who wants a product that gets picked up and used.

Paper Stocks for Booklet Printing

Paper choice affects how your booklet reads, feels, and is perceived by whoever picks it up. Here's how to think about cover and interior stocks for different booklet types.

Cover Stock Options

Gloss Cover

A high-shine surface with rich, vibrant color. The most eye-catching cover option — great when your cover design features bold photography, illustration, or bright colors that need to pop.

Best for: Comic books, lookbooks, product catalogs, promotional booklets, convention art publications.

Matte Cover

A smooth, non-reflective finish that feels sophisticated in the hand. Matte covers read as more refined and editorial — less flashy, more intentional. Colors are slightly softer but the overall impression is premium.

Best for: Annual reports, press kits, fine art publications, zines, playbills, and any project where elegance matters more than shine.

Interior Stock Options

70# Uncoated Text

The best standard interior paper — clean, readable, and easy to write on. The default choice for text-heavy publications, training manuals, and coloring books where the page needs to accept pencil or marker without bleed-through.

Best for: Coloring books, manuals, programs, and text-forward booklets.

80# Gloss Text

A coated interior stock with a bright, magazine-style finish. Colors print more vibrantly, and photos reproduce with greater clarity than on uncoated text. The standard interior choice for comic books, product catalogs, and image-heavy publications.

Best for: Comic books, lookbooks, photography books, and image-heavy booklets.

Who Uses Our Booklet Printing

Our booklet collection serves a wide range of creative, business, and educational customers. Here's how different groups put it to work.

Independent Artists & Creators

Indie comic creators, zine makers, fan art publishers, and illustrators use our booklet printing to produce physical publications that sell at conventions, online shops, and local events. Comic books, coloring books, and half-size zines are especially popular in the creator community.

Small Businesses

Product catalogs, service guides, employee handbooks, and promotional lookbooks. A well-designed booklet positions a small business as credible and established — in a way that a single-page flyer simply can't. Full-size booklets are the go-to for client-facing materials that need to impress.

Schools & Educators

Course packets, student handbooks, coloring books, event programs, and school play playbills. We handle short runs affordably, which makes us practical for classroom projects and school productions that don't need thousands of copies.

Event Organizers

Playbills, programs, schedules, and guides for theater productions, concerts, dance recitals, festivals, and conferences. Fast turnaround is essential for live events — we keep production tight so your programs are ready before show night.

Nonprofits & Community Organizations

Annual reports, fundraiser programs, donor guides, and community calendars. Booklets communicate substance and effort — they're harder to ignore than a flyer and signal that your organization takes its communication seriously.

Photographers & Visual Artists

Custom calendars, photography lookbooks, and art publications. A calendar that features twelve months of your photography or artwork is a product buyers and clients display all year — one of the highest-value uses of print for a visual artist.

How to Prepare Your Booklet File

Booklet files have a few unique requirements compared to single-sheet printing. Here's everything you need to know to submit a file that goes to press without issues.

Use a Multi-Page PDF

Submit your booklet as a single multi-page PDF — one page per page, in reading order (not printer spreads). The first page should be your front cover, the last page your back cover. Do not submit your file as individual JPGs or separate documents per page unless instructed otherwise.

Page Count in Multiples of 4

Saddle-stitched booklets are printed on folded sheets, which means your total page count must be a multiple of 4 (8, 12, 16, 20, 24, and so on). If your content doesn't fill a multiple of 4, add blank pages to reach the nearest multiple — or contact us and we'll help you figure out the best approach.

Resolution: 300 DPI at Final Size

Every image in your booklet should be 300 DPI at its final printed size. Low-resolution images pulled from the web (72–96 DPI) will print soft and blurry — especially noticeable in full-page spreads and on glossy interior stock. Set up your document at the correct resolution from the start.

Bleed: 0.125" on All Sides

If your design includes color, photos, or artwork that runs to the edge of the page, extend that artwork 0.125" beyond the trim line on all sides. Without bleed, trimming can expose a thin white border along the edge — especially noticeable on darker or full-color backgrounds.

Safe Zone: 0.25" Inside Trim

Keep all important text, logos, page numbers, and focal elements at least 0.25" inside the trim edge on every page. Elements too close to the edge risk being clipped during trimming. This is especially important for inside pages near the spine, where the saddle-stitch or binding can slightly affect the visible area.

Color Mode: CMYK

Set your document color mode to CMYK for the most accurate print-to-screen color match. RGB files are accepted, but CMYK gives you more control over how colors appear in the final print — especially important for booklets with consistent brand colors across multiple pages.

Not sure if your file is set up correctly? Submit it and our team will review it before printing. If something needs adjustment — page count, resolution, bleed, or color mode — we'll contact you before a single sheet goes through the press.

Comic Book Printing: A Closer Look

Comic book printing has its own set of considerations that go beyond standard booklet production. Here's what indie creators and small publishers need to know.

Standard Comic Size

Our comic book printing uses the standard U.S. comic dimension of 6.625" × 10.25" — the same format used by Marvel, DC, and most indie publishers. This means your comic sits correctly in comic bags, boards, and shop display bins without modification.

Cover vs. Interior Paper

Comic books typically use a heavier cover stock for the outer cover and a lighter interior stock for the pages. This is the industry standard and gives the book a proper feel in the hand. We replicate this structure — your cover has weight and presence, your interior pages turn cleanly.

Linework & Detail Reproduction

Our digital presses reproduce fine linework with precision — thin panel borders, hatching, and detailed inking all print clearly. For best results, create your comic pages at 600 DPI or higher for black-and-white linework. Color pages should be 300 DPI at final size.

Short Runs for Indie Creators

We handle short-run comic printing without requiring large minimum orders. Whether you're printing 25 copies for a convention debut or 250 copies for a wider distribution run, the quality is the same. Print your first issue without committing to an inventory you're not sure you can move.

Custom Calendar Printing: Twelve Months of Presence

Custom calendars are one of the highest-retention print products available. Unlike flyers or postcards that get glanced at and discarded, a calendar is used daily — which means your artwork, photography, or branding is in front of someone every single day for a full year.

For Artists & Photographers

Turn a collection of your strongest pieces into a product that sells. A custom calendar is an accessible price point for fans and collectors who want your work in a functional format. Twelve pieces of art, one product, year-round display.

For Businesses & Brands

Branded calendars as client gifts, promotional giveaways, or customer appreciation items. Businesses that give calendar gifts stay top-of-mind every time a client looks up a date — which is significantly more effective than any single marketing touchpoint.

For Fundraisers & Organizations

School fundraisers, nonprofit awareness campaigns, and community organizations all benefit from calendars as a sellable product. They're easy to price for profit, easy to distribute, and practical enough that people actually want to buy them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Booklet Printing

What file format should I submit for booklet printing?

A print-ready multi-page PDF is the preferred format. Submit all pages as a single document in reading order — front cover first, back cover last. Make sure your PDF includes bleed (0.125" on all sides for full-bleed designs) and that all images are embedded at 300 DPI. If you're not sure how to export a print-ready PDF from your design software, upload what you have and our team will let you know if anything needs adjustment.

What's the minimum page count for a booklet?

Most saddle-stitched booklets start at 8 pages. All saddle-stitched page counts must be in multiples of 4 (8, 12, 16, 20...) — this is a function of how folded-sheet printing works, not an arbitrary rule. If your content comes out to an awkward page count, add blank pages to reach the nearest multiple of 4. Contact us if you need help figuring out the right approach for your specific project.

Can I order a small quantity?

Yes. We specialize in short-run booklet printing and handle orders from 25 copies upward. You don't need to commit to a large print run to get professional quality. This is especially useful for testing a new design, printing for a single event, or fulfilling a small batch of commissions.

How long does booklet printing take?

Turnaround time varies by product and options. Standard production for most booklet sizes is 3–5 business days. Rush production options are available on many products if you have a tight deadline. You'll see estimated production time on the individual product page and at checkout.

Do I need to set up my file as printer spreads?

No. Submit your file as single pages in reading order — not as two-page spreads. Our prepress team handles imposition (the process of rearranging pages for printing). Submitting printer spreads can actually cause problems in our workflow, so keep it simple: one page per page, front to back.

Can I print a coloring book with my own artwork?

Yes — and our coloring book printing is popular with independent artists, illustrators, and fan art creators. Submit clean black-and-white linework at 300 DPI (or higher for fine detail) and we'll reproduce it cleanly on interior stock that accepts pencil, colored pencil, and marker well. Cover stock is printed in full color for a polished, finished product.

What comic book size do you print?

We print at the standard U.S. comic book dimension of 6.625" × 10.25" — the industry-standard size used by major and independent publishers alike. This ensures your comic fits standard comic bags, boards, and display bins. Contact us if you need a different size and we'll tell you what's possible.

Will you review my file before printing?

Yes — every order includes a file review before production begins. We check page count, resolution, bleed, safe zones, and binding setup. If we find an issue that would affect your final booklets, we'll contact you before printing. You won't discover a problem in a box of finished copies.
